Transactions & quotas

SmartMaps meters usage in transactions. Both the free and the paid tiers are billed on this basis.

What counts as one transaction

Each of the following counts as a single transaction:

  • a route calculation, a matrix route calculation, or a trip optimization
  • a geocoding or reverse-geocoding
  • an address validation or an address normalization
  • a single geographic search via web service
  • a static map
  • an isochrone, a heatmap, or a map match
  • a timezone lookup
  • an area polygon
  • retrieval of an aerial image or an oblique (bird's-eye) image
  • a WMS request
  • loading the map as a map session

Sessions

  • Map session — counts as one transaction for up to 10 minutes. After each 10 minutes it counts as a new transaction; when connecting via the REST API, a new token must be generated.
  • Autocomplete session — loading the Autocomplete API counts as three transactions, valid for up to 10 minutes. After each 10 minutes it counts as three new transactions; when connecting via the REST API, a new token must be generated.

Quotas

  • Free — up to 300,000 transactions per year at no cost.
  • Enterprise — higher transaction tiers; see pricing.

Rate limits

Usage is governed by your transaction quota rather than by a per-second request throttle.

Note

The free tier is provided solely under YellowMap's general terms of use (ANB). For paid services, individual contractual agreements with the customer take precedence over the ANB.
